The 16th Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts opens the call for film submissions starting from February 28th until 15 April, 2013.The festival's administration has also launched the new official poster to be used in the upcoming 16th round of the Ismailia International Film Festival that will start from June 4th until June 9th, 2013.

The 16th Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts that opens on Tuesday, June 4th, has revealed the list of the festival's sponsoring organizations. Festival President and Director of the National Cinema Center, Kamal Abdel Aziz and Festival Director Mohamed Hefzy, who's also a Producer and Scriptwriter, have revealed that the list includes 25 organizations with resourceful expertise.

The sponsors of the festival are: Egypt Air, the General Egyptian Book Organization, Suez Canal Authority, Tourism Development Authority, MAD Solutions, Sky News Arabia, Al Jazzira Documentary Channel, FRED Radio, Nile Cinema Channel, Aflamnah, The American University in Cairo, The British Council, Studio Misr, French Institute, DayDream, Screen Institute Beirut, Egypt Film, Cairo Jazz Club, Red Bull, Escape, X Rated, Mercure Ismailia Hotel, Aroma and Team One.

The Ismailia festival is one of the major film festivals in the Arab world, and the first in the region to be exclusively dedicated to documentaries and shorts. First launched in 1988, the festival has provided local and international documentary filmmakers with the opportunity to showcase their works. In addition to the exclusive dedication to documentaries and shorts, the festival held sections for experimental films and animations in the previous editions.

Ismailia city has hosted the festival for fifteen years and it's considered one of the most charming cities in Egypt. The quiet city is situated on the coast of Suez Canal, which links between the Red and Mediterranean seas to be functioning as a link between civilizations, exactly the same as the Suez Canal, for nearly 150 years.
