The Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts opens the call for film submissions starting from February 28th until 15 April, 2013.The festival's administration has also launched the new official poster to be used in the upcoming 16th round of the Ismailia International Film Festival that will start from June 4th until June 9th, 2013.
Tribute : Tahani Rached
Born in Egypt, Tahani Rached kicked off her career in Canada where she studied at Montreal’s School of Fine Arts. Tahani Rached
Born in Egypt, Tahani Rached kicked off her career in Canada where she studied at Montreal’s School of Fine Arts. After a brief hiatus, Tahani presented her directorial debut, Pour Faire Changement, in 1972, a documentary produced by Le Vidéographe. In 1979, she made her first feature debut, Les Voleurs de Jobs, which was about immigrants in Quebec, Canada. The film was produced independently, and was followed by a series of six half-hour documentaries for Radio-Quebec on Quebec's Arab community. In 1980, Tahani started working for the National Film Board of Canada, as a staff Filmmaker.
Her first film there was La Phonie Furieuse in 1982, a short humorous film about the Walkman phenomenon and people's tendency to isolate themselves from the outside world. This was followed by a series of films including Beyrouth! Not Enough Death to Go Round in 1983, Haiti, Québec in 1985. Tahani's films participated in several international and local film festivals including Cannes International Film Festival in 2006, the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts, Festival International du Cinema Mediterraneen de Tetouan in Morocco, and the Arab Screen Independent Film Festival, London.

Her most remarkable Films include:
Au chic Resto Pop (1990): Paints a warm and captivating portrait of a popular restaurant in Montreal's Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood of Montreal and of the people working there. A film expressed in music and song, which introduced the musical form into the social documentary.
Doctors with Heart (1993): Raises ethical questions about the treatment of AIDS and examines the doctor-patient relationship in Quebec.
Four Women of Egypt (1997): Introduced the viewer to four women committed to social battles in their country – a plea for tolerance, friendship and social commitment.
Soraida, a Woman of Palestine (2004): Tells the story of a woman who lives in Ramallah, in the heart of the occupied territories.
Neighbors (2009): Depicts the changing nature of the Cairo scene, set in Garden City, from Europeanized chic before the Egyptian Revolution to democratization and disintegration afterward.

Gian Vittorio Baldi
Born on 30th October 1930, in Bologna, Italy, Gian Vittorio Baldi is an Italian Filmmaker with an extensive cinematic record. He is a film Director, Producer, Actor and Writer. Baldi has produced 200 shorts and directed 20 films. He reaped more than 100 prestigious awards including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, the Italian Silver Ribbon, and the Golden Grolla award. He gained recognition for his revolutionary methods in film development and production. He is known to be amongst the first to use direct sound in Italy after the Second World War.

Baldi's films, over the course of 40 years, constitute a valid documentary of the evolution of the moving image and a peek into its future. They also participated in innumerous international and local film festivals including the Midnight Sun Film Festival in Finland, Syracuse Film Festival in New York, the International Film Festival in Sao Paulo, and Berlin International Film Festival.

La Casa Delle Vedove (1960): Portrays a group of widows who live together in a constant dialogue with death.
Mundo Invisível (2012): An anthology film following different stories around the theme of invisibility in the modern world.
Zen-Zona Espansione Nord (1988): A look at the intolerable living conditions in one of Palermo's poorest slums.
NEVRIJEME-THE STORM (NEVRIJEME- IL TEMPORALE) - 1999: Amidst the chaos and suffering of civil war, a terrible storm takes place leading into a tragic death among the crashes of the war mixed with the sound of the thunder.

Fire (Fucco)
Synopsis: A man opens fire on the statue of the Virgin during the 15th August procession. Barricaded in his home with his wife and daughter, he continues to shoot wildly. After beating and killing his wife, he hands over his daughter to the carabineer and gives himself up.
