Ismailia Co-production Platform Opens the Call for Film Entries as Part of Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts
Cairo, Egypt | Sunday- 9 March, 2014:
The Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts opens the call for film entries for the 2nd Ismailia Co-production Platform that takes place during the last three days of the festival's 17th round, which runs from June 3rd until June 8th, 2014.

The Ismailia Co-production Platform, the first Arab co-production forum primarily dedicated to documentaries, will be an opportunity to have meetings with experts, sales agents, and funders. Filmmakers from all over the world, who have a project with "an Arab connection" (director, producer, co-producer, main talent, location, subject matter, etc...) are encouraged to apply with feature-length creative documentaries either at the development or post-production phase and all applications must be in English.

The Co-production Platform aims to support new and emerging creative filmmakers to make their projects see the light. This comes as a part of Ismailia festival's commitment to support creativity, imagination and freedom of expression through endorsing the work of creative filmmakers and artists interested in telling stories about the Arab region.

Last year, there were many unique and superb projects from all over the world at the Co-production Platform. In addition to the one-to-one meetings and sessions with the jury, Co-Platform 2013 hosted a special workshop for 3 projects in post-production in conjunction with Screen Institute Beirut. One of these projects, Guardians of Time Lost (Arak) by Diala Kashmar was completed and premiered at the Dubai International Film Festival. The film received the Special Jury Prize for the Muhr Arab Documentary. Emanuela Zucala's documentary, Just to Let You Know That I'm Alive was also completed after participating in the co-production platform and is ready to start touring festivals. The film that received the AmericanUniversity in Cairo monetary award, Cinema Wahbe by Nidal el Dibs, is currently in post-production. We have received updates from most of the projects and several are in post-production while others are still in production.

The Ismailia Co-production Platform will take place on June 5, 6 and 7, 2014, where the festival selects approximately 8 -10 projects in development and 2-4 works-in-progress. The deadline for applications is April 15th, 2014. The festival will then invite the project representatives, were they directors or producers, to come to Ismailia for three days during which they will have a schedule of one-to-one meetings with Egyptian and international producers, distributors, and sales agents. Most importantly they will also meet with the jury of the Co-production Platform who will choose the projects that will win the development grants and the funding.

Prizes offered by Ismailia Co-production Platform:

- Development prize of USD 5000
- Post-production prizes in the form of Post Production facilities worth up to 15,000 USD per prize
- More prizes will be announced
