Ismailia Co-Production Platform Launches a Training Project for Documentary Filmmakers
Cairo, Egypt | Friday- 25 April, 2014:
The 2nd Ismailia Co-production Platform (ICP), in collaboration with Documentary Campus e.V and Screen Institute Beirut (SIB), launches a new free-of-charge training for filmmakers with documentary projects on how to improve their storytelling techniques and pitch their projects to an international market. Projects that are selected will be given the opportunity to apply to the Mena Goes Berlin workshop which will take place in Berlin in September, 2014. We are looking for documentary projects by Arab filmmakers which are already in an advanced development stage. They may also have a cross-media orientation. All the tuition fees, travel expenses and accommodation costs will be covered for the participants by the Ismailia Co-Production Platform and SIB.

Who will be trained? Documentary and television filmmakers who have an Arab connection, and who are invited to take part in the Ismailia Co-Production Platform 2014.

What does the training include? The two-day training will feature sessions on storytelling and pitching. The participants will have the opportunity to pitch their projects to the producers who are attending and they will be given several networking opportunities. In addition, there are financial awards to the winning project.

When does the training take place? June 5th and 6th in Ismailia within the Ismailia International Film Festival For Documentaries and Shorts.

What costs will be covered for participants? Tuition fees, travel expenses, accommodation.

Why should you be part of the training? You will develop specific skills in story development; learn from key international professionals; exchange knowledge and network with like-minded colleagues and get a chance to get financial support that goes to 3 projects selected by ICP.

Documentary Campus e.V., based in Berlin and Munich, is one of the most renowned professional training initiatives in Europe dedicated to international co-productions of high-quality documentaries for a large audience. It offers professionals and up-and-coming young talents in the documentary field the necessary experience and know-how to work in international terrain.

Screen Institute Beirut (SIB) was first launched in November 2009 with the aim of supporting ambitious and talented documentary filmmakers in the Arab region. So far, it's considered the only fund in the Arab world devoted particularly to documentary, it offers grants for the development, production and post-production of films by emerging and proven talents from the Arab world. The institution also offers physical production resources and professional support for young professionals to allow them produce films that would otherwise not be realized.
