The Ismailia Festival Unveils Poster for Its 25th Edition

The Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts (IIFFDS) has unveiled the poster for its 25th edition, scheduled to take place from February 28 to March 5. Egyptian critic Essam Zakaria is  the festival's head, under the supervision of the National Film Festival led by Hussein Bakr.

The poster, crafted by visual artist Ahmed Al-Labbad, draws inspiration from three main elements. Firstly, it captures the enchantment of a "film screening," with its captivating darkness of cinemas and the mesmerizing glow of projectors that illuminate the screen, evoking curiosity and delight. Secondly, it incorporates imagery of birds, notably the seagull, a beloved symbol of Ismailia, blending the city's nocturnal ambiance with the allure of cinema halls.

Lastly, it features the iconic projector, whose luminous display pierces through the clouds. Here, the projector serves a dual purpose: symbolizing its conventional cinematic role and its function of illuminating the Suez Canal, a pivotal landmark of Ismailia and a prominent national symbol of Egypt. The canal epitomizes smooth and secure maritime transit, facilitating the exchange of cultures and goods from various nations around the globe.

The 25th edition of the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts promises to commemorate the festival's rich history and previous editions, marking a significant milestone in its journey.
