Synopsis:

The theme of the film '98kg' centers on Domestic Violence. The main character is a woman abused by her husband. We watch a form of toxic relationship in which the characters are endlessly trapped. 98kg symbolizes the heavy weight of a set of barbells, as well as that of the husband.

 

Director Biography:

Izabela Plucińska born in Poland and living in Germany. She studied fine arts and film as an undergraduate and completed her PhD in the field of animation at the National Film School in Lodz. Plucińska has some fifteen films to her credit, including Jam Session (2005), which won a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, Esterhazy (2009) and Sexy Laundry (2015), Portrait of Suzanne (2019) Currently she is teaching at the Academy of Art in Szczecin Poland while being busily working at her own production company, ClayTraces Berlin.

Synopsis:

During their office break, Rich and his colleagues joke about a new female colleague by commenting on some of her photos with macho allusions and jokes. A pink smoke bomb launched by some feminist protesters enters the office window and hits Rich, who is thus catapulted into a deep and hellish dream.

 

Director Biography:

Lucia Bulgheroni is an Italian animation director. While studying filmmaking at Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, Lucia first began exploring stop motion animation and discovered her love for and the potential of the medium. After working in commercials, regularly blending live action and stop motion techniques, Lucia completed an MA in Directing Animation at the National Film & Television School in London. Her main interest lies in exploring issues surrounding philosophy, psychology and her own subconscious – abstract themes perfectly suited to be visualised through the medium of animation. With her short film "Inanimate" (2018) she won major awards at Cannes Film Festival (Cinéfondation), Annecy, BAFTA Student Film Awards and many others. Her latest short film is "Cromosoma X" (2021).

This short film depicts the author's fear of changes and distortions. How do you face these feelings in the past, present and in the future? It is as though the soul is broken into infinite pieces, but as long as we can survive, the Depths of night passes eventually.

4- Elevator Alone

Synopsis:

Four people and the time they spend in an elevator. Inspired by everyday life and by the difference in people's behavior when they are alone, in contrast to the socially acceptable behavior that individuals adopt when in public space and especially in the confined and always awkward setting of an elevator.

 

Director Biography:

Anastasia is a director, stop motion model maker and animator based in the UK and Greece. She has recently completed her first personal work “Elevator Alone”, a graduation short stop motion film which she wrote, directed, animated and constructed the sets and puppets. Her work includes Cat Steven’s “Wild World” music clip, Locomondo’s “Star” music clip, “I’m here” tv commercial for Klinex as either a set/puppet maker or animator. This year she worked as art director/model maker for Effie Papa’s “In between” short stop motion animation movie, expected to be completed early 2022.

Every season a young mole visits his blind grandfather, who lives deep underground in a comfortably decorated burrow. As the two grow older their relationship becomes more intense and important questions arise.

6- It wasn’t Bourgogne

Synopsis:

Between two telephone calls, my grandfather recounts some of his memories from the war when he was twenty years old.

 

Director Biography:

Mathias was born in Paris in 1986. In 2004 he became a student at the École des Beaux Arts in Poitiers, where he met Sonia Gerbeaud who became his girlfriend. Together they produced the short film Faded Finery, that won some fifteen festival awards. Mathias subsequently started to produce C’était pas du Bourgogne. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. He fought an intense battle against the illness but on 01/07/19 the cancer got the better of him. Sonia and her loved ones completed his film at the end of 2020.

Director Biography:

Pablo Polledri is a prolific filmmaker, who has developed a multitude of animation pieces, always working independently. Considered one of the most outstanding animators of Argentine animation, he has a very extensive filmography 20 shorts directed, as well as a multitude of commercial works for international brands. CORP, his previous 2D animated short film, obtained more than 220 selections in international festivals and more than 50 awards.

For us, they are first of all - independent persons .And we prefer to talk to children on any topic, therefore films of our studio are filled with childish wisdom and personal innermost secrets.

9- Shell in Love

Synopsis:

A timid snail, scarred by a childhood trauma, spends his time hiding away in his shell where he has created an imaginary version of the outside world. After a chance encounter with love he will have to face his fears and discover the wonders of reality.

 

Director Biography:

Svilen Dimitrov graduated as animation director from the Bulgarian National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia. His graduation film, The Air Ace (2007), was selected for the Berlinale “Generation” section. His next animated short, Rew Day (2012), premiered in the Annecy International Animation Film Festival’s out of competition selection. For his next 3D short The Magical Cake of Auntie Bantie (2015) he was nominated for best director and best animated film at the Bulgarian Film Academy Awards. Most recently he completed Shell in Love, which combines 2D animation techniques with live-action footage. Svilen works full time for Miramar film, the production company behind all his films, where he has created numerous animated commercials and visual effects for several feature films.

Synopsis:

A father and his son are losing the folk race. In order to win, the boy turns himself into a car tire. Loosely inspired by the director's childhood, Sierra pulls us into the surreal car racing world.

 

Director Biography:

Sander Joon uses animation to create surreal worlds with a dash of humour. His films have travelled to Annecy, DOK Leipzig, Ottawa, GLAS, and more. He teaches animation at the Estonian Academy of Arts. Synopsis:

African tropical forest. A dark figure escapes through the thicket. The hunters’ shouting grows. The chimpanzee’s eyes shine on her dark face. She is breathing heavily, flees through the jungle. The frightened animal reaches a beautiful colonial villa and enters inside. Leaving her natural environment will stand before an important choice. “The visit” is a film that asks the question of where humanity begins.

 

Director Biography:

Mateusz Jarmulski is a director and scriptwriter of animated films as well as an animator. He graduated from Lodz Film School where he studied animation. He was in charge of the VFX for 'Peter and the Wolf' (Oscar 2008). His films were broadcasted on TV and screened and awarded at festivals among others in Stuttgart, Seoul or Hiroshima. His previous short 'The Hunt' went to over 40 festivals worldwide'. “The Visit” is his latest short.
