The Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts opens the call for film submissions starting from February 28th until 15 April, 2013.The festival's administration has also launched the new official poster to be used in the upcoming 16th round of the Ismailia International Film Festival that will start from June 4th until June 9th, 2013.

    Alia Ayman is a Writer and Filmmaker born and raised in Cairo. After earning her BA in Psychology from the American University in Cairo, she started looking for a way to share her existential preoccupations with a wider audience.     With a mixture of computer-generated imagery, live actors and an arabesque electronica soundtrack, Nation Estate explores a vertical solution to Palestinian statehood. Each city has its own floor: Jerusalem on the third floor, Ramallah on the fourth floor, Sansour’s native Bethlehem on the fifth, etc. Intercity trips previously marred by checkpoints are now made by elevator. The lobby of each floor reenacts iconic squares and landmarks. The story follows the female lead in a futuristic folklore suit returning home from a trip abroad and making her way through the lobby. Having passed the security checks, she takes the elevator to her apartment where she prepares a plate of sci-fi tabouleh.

    Sasha Friedlander (Director, Producer, DP, Editor) is a Filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York. Sasha completed her BA from UCLA in 2007, and received her MFA in Social Documentary Film from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2011. After UCLA, Sasha received a Darmasiswa Fellowship to study at the Indonesian Art Institute in Bali. While in Indonesia, Sasha began an internship at Bali TV. In 2010, she returned to Indonesia to produce 'Where Heaven Meets Hell'. The film has won numerous awards including the Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature Documentary Film and a Special Jury award for Outstanding Cinematography and the Halekulani Golden Orchid Award for Best Documentary Feature.
