Speech by Mr. Helmy El-Namnam Minister of Culture about Ismailia International Film Festival 18th

After a hiatus, Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts is back. This is the eighteenth edition of the festival, which is considered as an artistic icon that is niching its presence year after year.
This year’s edition is coinciding with the sixtieth anniversary of the nationalization of the Suez Canal, which is a national and great humane event. It is a historic event for all Egyptians, especially the sons of Ismailia. It is a humane event because it belongs to all the aspirations to freedom and independence in the whole world.
Participating in this edition, there are forty countries representing all continents, and reflecting different cultures and showing various artistic, cinematic and human experiences which break the dominance of a certain culture or a particular pattern for humanity as a whole.
Documentaries and Shorts have proven their importance in the documentations of social and political events with the use of cameras and words, as well as their entertainment provided to the viewer.
This festival is being held with the full cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and the National Cinema Center and Ismailia Governorate.
